First off my apologies if this has been done to death, did search for answers but no joy... So my question is where do you keep your Elise, especially over the winter months?

I'm looking into getting a S1 as a weekend toy but I haven't got access to a garage, only a car port (just a roof basically) so would this be ok as I know their not renowned for being water tight! I'd have a breathable car cover so would this be enough to keep it dry?

I keep mine garaged, but I've got a 'long tail' shower cape which I use when I need to leave it outside. Covers from the windscreen to the boot, so means the screen doesn't ice up so much in the cold and less water getting in to the engine bay.

Mine is garaged, but I know people who've kept S1s outside without any kind of extra cover. I'd probably invest in a caravan dehumidifier if I was going to keep one outside, though.

Exige is garaged and on trickle charger _ use infrequently.

Elise is outside on drive under a stormforce cover _ used more frequently.

I use the cover on mine as it used to leak (before I adjusted the windows) and it wouldn't start once as water got in to the spark plugs (sorted with sealant on the spark plug cover).

These days I mostly use the cover just to keep the dust out in the garage as I never have the roof on.

My S1 has spent the last decade outside. 5 years of that with me.

With the soft top they were only leaks when I put it on wrong. With the hard top on it's always dry.
Condensation inside is about the same as my MX5, but in the winter I stick a little dehumidifier bag in there and it's not a problem.

I used to use a shower cape over the soft top in winter, but I've not bothered since getting the hard top. Digging out the radiator exit vents is the only downside when it's been snowing.

I fitted an S2 K-series engine cover (it took a little bit of fettling) and that has fixed the rain-water misfire.

The advantage of keeping it outside is that I can stare at it all the time out of the window.

HMMM im looking for car "pajamas" and have been wondering what the options are, it will be parked outside for 6 months a year in a private car park with wandering joe public going past. (In winter wrapped up unused)
The pajamas are to prevent water ungress and also reduce scrote-attraction. How long do they take to put on / take off. What are the other options?

Once you are familiar with which way round it goes you can take it on/off in a matter of seconds. They have 4 securing straps that pass under the car and hold the cover securely in place. I was surprised at the quality, it has an all weather outer and a felt-like material inside, this affords the car some snug protection.

Unfortunately, because of the way the Elise is designed, it is prone to collect water around the engine area. This is no problem though as the cover is incredibly sturdy and water proof.

I would advise a sign for the scrotes with some choice words. Perhaps 'DO NOT REMOVE COVER, THIS IS NOT A SPORTS CAR, NOTHING TO SEE HERE'

Cheers, thanks to your info today i bought one today on seloc biggrin
Reckon a polystyrene giant brazil nut/dung beetle under the cover starting at the roll bar will fill out that area and keep rain running off out and sidewards. or maybe just an old football.

Mine goes inside, handbrake off & battery out. Once a month I'll start it up, let it get up to temp & move it back & forth to free the brakes & stop flat spots on the tyres. That's it though...

Mine lives in the small room next to the kitchen smile

If it's not being used or worked on for more than a week or so, it lives under a specialised premium indoor cover.

If I'm storing it over a couple of months, the wheels come off and it sits on axle stands.
