I'm struggling on warm track days in my 2008 Exige with my sweaty hands on the skinny plastic wheel.

I don't like wearing gloves, but need to improve my grip.

At a recent track event I saw a car with an upgraded wheel, it looked great ( chunky & covered in alcantara ). I didn't get chance to speak to the driver unfortunately.

Does anyone know of a suitable upgrade?

Mine has the airbag in the wheel, so presumably there would have to be a corresponding fix to deal with that.

Eliseparts and Elise-shop both sell some different Momo and Sparco wheels and the kit for fitting them.

I put a Momo Jet in my last Elise, looked and felt great, and cured the sweaty palm issue:

Before (top) and After (bottom):

ETA Obviously no air bag in mine, so not sure if/how yours could be done.

Cheers for the input guys.

My car has the airbag steering wheel & I've been told by a dealer it can't be done as it will cock up the electrics on the car.

Thing is, the car I saw at the weekend was a newer car also with an airbag, but it had an uprated racing type wheel with no airbag, so I know it can be done.

I'm far from certain, but I'd imagine not having an air bag in a car which should have one is an MoT failure since the new rules came in?

Could you just get someone to retrim your existing steering wheel in suede/alcantara?

I had an old steering wheel retrimmed by a chap a few years ago and it was much more grippy. Sadly I've lost the guy's number, but there must be a few other retrimmers out there.

Good thinking that man. Cheers, I'll look into that one.
