Exige N/A or Elise Sport Racer?
Discussion
Hi
I'm looking at a 2006 Sport Racer and an 06 Exige N/A and can't decide between them
Both in good condition with low Kay's - I assume they are basically the same car with underneath, same engine, same suspension, just a different shape. They both have good history
I probably prefer the shape of the Exige - both cars will by 75% road, 25% track
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Steve

They're the same car under the skin, pretty much.
Personally I love the fact you have relatively decent rear vision on the Elise. Important if you tend to break the speed limit and want to keep an eye out for the police! Although these days I end up driving along at 60 on the motorway as I like to listen to 5 Live.
Roof also comes off the Elise, so a pro there if you like that sort of thing. You can take the roof off the Exige but it looks a bit crap..
Exige looks a lot better overall.
Worth gambling on depreciation? I'd bet on the Exige being worth more in a few years time, although doubt there will be much in it.
It's just minor things really - same engine, obviously same chassis, same suspension, think they're even the same tyres, and there's nothing aside from looks that would sway me either way. Think I'd go Exige!

Actually Sports Racer runs on 175 section tyres up front, Exige is 195.
To fit 195s properly to an SR would need wider front wheels.
SR is a much easier daily driver due to rear visiblity. It's also much easier to get in and out of when the roofs off. The soft top is a big plus for me but the Exige has much more of a track warrior image.
Both can, and should, be supercharged!

I thought the suspension was slightly different between the Elise & Exige too, although the Sports Racer may be different to the 111R I have
Also Tyres should be different with the Exige being on A048s and the Elise on AD07's
The Sports Racer is different to your 111R - has different suspension, oil cooler etc, was a bit more than just a 111R with a natty paint job. Also Tyres should be different with the Exige being on A048s and the Elise on AD07's
I thought it was tyres as well but evidently not.
Cheers
Definitely AD07s. I have one in the garage. It has the sports pack so firmer dampers than standard 111R/R and yes twin oil-coolers.
The other things a 2006 Exige won't have is the traction control, drive-by-wire throttle and led rear lights. Sportsracers are basically high spec MY2007 Elise R.
TC works well, I feel it cutting in almost every day during the winter!
I love mine but the Exige should bring a bit more grip and stability (via aero package) on the track. Obviously it's relatively easy to upgrade Elise to Exige spec but does require wider front wheels and tyres.
