DSG 'box, huh? Very nice!

Balance must have shifted rearward, even more, now though!

Hmm, even in 200bhp form, that engine is a rather soft, laggy, uninspiring feeling thing. I'm sure it's bloody fast in an 900kg car, but no thanks.

are those engine's and boxes (DSG) that strong to handle that power?
ofcorse when its in a lighter car you have less forces on most, but then still.

Have a look through Reader's Cars and there is some chap running mental power in an Audi TT with what I assume is the same 'box.

They took it apart to inspect the DSG clutch wear, inside the 'box, and from memory - there wasn't any!

So, it seems a pretty tough old unit!

This one is nice too, an Elise S1 by Komotec, the 400R

Lotus Elise 400R Komo-Tec Performance Fahrt

They tested such Elise with Honda and SC, the final results are
pretty good... supercar good biggrin

0 to 100km/h in 3.8sec
100 to 200km/h in just 7.3sec
and a blistering fast 0 to 200 in just 11.1sec
it makes a nice sound to and also the shifting looks fast that way.

For a turbo car that is a very long compressed air pipe from the turbo to inter cooler to intake, that's going to make quite laggy!

Really? i dont think its that much longer, if any, than a front engined car. Looks like there are less turn in the pipework also.

Although sticking the chargecooler there it dose make you swonder why they didnt use a well designed air to air unit and fan(s) and ducting.

Chris.

why didnt they move the red fluid bottle and stick there for shorter pipework.
Stupid question, isnt this engine the wrong way round, i.e. 6 reverse gears and 1 forward? (or is the VW intake/exhaust set back to front? - probably the answer to this is yes laugh)
