Hello,

My indicators have stopped working, all of them, all at once. I was indicating left, got one flash out of them and that was it. The relay doodad thingy doesn't make clicking noises any more. Early S1 if that helps.

Any hints? What's it most likely to be, and how do I tell?

I'm rubbish with electrical stuff.

Thanks,

Muppet.

Elise Parts says:
"Firstly check your fuses, next check the earthing point and then the relay.
If it's not any of these then it will most probably be a wiring fault."

If its a fuse then I'd worry about why it blew.
My bet would be on the relay being stuffed though. You can probably get one for buttons from a scrap yard. Not sure what other car this relay originally comes from, but it'll be a common item I'm sure.
And of course it just clips in and out so easy to swap.

Interesting, thanks.

I just had a prod at the hazard switch, and the relay made a buzzing noise then the hazards sort of flashed a bit and gave up.

Tonight I'll disconnect the hazard switch and see if it fixes the indicators.

I've already got a relay in the post and a spare hazard switch in my garage, so one way or another I should be OK.

I think the switches get a bit funny if they aren't used - try just pressing it in and out a few times to see if the contacts clean themselves up first.

It was the hazard switch. Gave it a damn good pressing in and out for a minute and the indicators worked.

Lasted a couple of days before going again. Fitting my new switch should fix it for another 16 years. It's not bad reliability for French electrics.
