Hi all

My Elise is in need of some new rear tyres. The question is, do I pay £400 for another pair of AD07LTS or £260 for a pair of the AD08s?

Has anyone tried both?

Does having AD08s significantly affect the handling?

Are the AD07s worth the extra money?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Yes. I was in the same situation last summer, and went with AD08s; partly the reduced cost, partly because no one could tell me when they could get some 07s.

No. I can't tell there is a difference at all. If anything there might be a little more grip, although that could be just the old vs new tyre factor.

No. Zero difference and 80 quid a tyre more.

Only thing I can recommend is you get tyres with the correct weight rating (91, off the top of my head). The heavier rated ones have stiffer side walls, which could cause weird handling problems on a light car like an Elise.

Thanks for that- that's what I was hoping to hear!

Think I'll end up going for the AD08s...

Such a shame they don't make the AD08 is narrow enough sizes for the front. frown

I have 08s rear and 07s front. Will no doubt just stick to this combination next time too. Works fine on track and road.

Hi Was thinking the same thing re: AD08's vs AD07's... thing is mine currently has Bridgy's on it.
The rears need changing but there's loads of tread on the fronts...

Would I be crazy to change the rears to AD08's and leave the bridgy's on the front until they need doing ?

Probably wouldn't be ideal, there's quite a difference in both dry and wet weather grip between the Bridgestones & Yokos (Yokos have quite a bit more!).

You could always sell the Bridgestones, I've often seen people wanting a part worn front/rear set if only to use as an interim between changing all four.

At least with the AD08s on the back you'll just make the car under-steer more rather than throw you off the road backwards.
