What Completely Pointless Accessory Have you bought...
Discussion
Hi All,
my baby (111s) is still at Specialised having had it's from clam replaced, radiator cowling (whatever that is) soon to have a full geo and "to hell with it" I said, let's replace the seized / soon to be seized radiator fans...
I'm always asked what I'd like for my birthday and Christmas and to be honest always answer with "A Lotus Elise" please.... well now I have one (well nearly when it comes back to me that is)... I'm struggling to know what to ask for.
Sure I could ask for an XYZ Stage 2 Induction dip thong jelocilator but they actually do something worthwhile.
What truly pointless accessory has everyone else bought for their cars that you absolutely couldn't live without at the time ? It might be that they're not completely pointless and actually are very useful...
I am looking with loving eyes at the lotus badged tyre valve dust caps at the moment.... :-)

Heard lots of stories of metal valve caps reacting with the valves and being a nightmare to get off - probably best avoided
The only ones the local kids didn't steal were the ones I had to saw off. Those were aluminium valves with ally caps, normal valves might be better.I just use plastic valve caps now - lighter and they work better. I'm pretending that both those things are more important to me than being shiny
Something for every budget:
Carlimits day.
SELOC membership.
Sports exhaust.
Hard top.
Wrap.
Team Dynamics black alloys.
Fabisil for the soft top.
A detailing.
New head gasket.
Philips LED battery powered light for the boot.
New tyre goo.
New iPhone compatible stereo.
Front splitter.
New windscreen wiper.
Nitrons.
And just for today: chamois, deicer and a scraper.

I got my first lotus in August last year and so far got the Lotus badged valve caps ha ha.... To cheap not too.... then a genuine lotus T shirt (probably never wear it ha ha) and most recently Monogram model kit, its not quite the right model but I thought I could fiddle with it so bought it, I'll probably never make it!!
I got to the check out on the lotus web site for another t shirt and a back back after a drink or two the other night but was stopped when delivery costs added 50%..... I discovered even when tipsy how tight I am luckily or I really was wasting money ha ha

There was a loooong thread on this on SELOC a while back but a bit more related to upgrades. The long and the shgort of it was that if you have an Elise/Exige, don't mess about with it!
Anyway, my first pointless thing was an interior light delay kit. It worked fine but it messed up the alarm so I had to get out, wait for the light to go off and then lock the car. It just looked like I was posing next to my car all the time! And it wasn't ideal when in a hurry, it was raining or cold. Took it out and binned it!

Umm the most pointless thing I have bought ... well I bought a Jim Clark mug and matching coaster with a picture of a Lotus 32B!!
And some Lotus cufflinks!
Oh you meant for the car?!!
Well its not pointless but one of the best 'upgrades' I have invested in is two of those little motion sensor led light type things! I recommend it and its only a few quid!!!
In fact this one:
