Hi,

I have been reading that the lotus elise should have a bit of rake in the ways it sits. I.e. The front sits slightly lower than the rear.

Mine seems to be sitting a bit high at the front in relation to the rear.

I currently have adjustable coilovers fitted and was wondering whether I can lower it by adjusting the spring or weather I would need these lowering damper mounts off elise parts?

Any help greatly appreciated! smile

What dampers have you fitted and what did you have before?

If it had the Bilstein 'S2' upgrade fitted to it then it'll already be running different rear brackets and you need to refit the standard brackets as most aftermarket S1 dampers are designed to fit these. If not then the rear will be too low or you have to set the spring platform up as if you were running a higher ride height - I had this issue with my previous setup and it made the handling horrible over bumps as the rear dampers would hit full extension and pull the rear wheels up off the road.

Thanks for the reply

The dampers are adjustable AVO - From the looks of it the car has original brackets on as they were quite corroded, so could the springs on the front be adjusted to lower the car at the front slightly? As I quite like the way it is sitting at the rear.

It’s not massively to high but think it just needs to be a nudge lower.

I don't know much about the AVO shocks but looking at them the ride height should be adjustable. If it hasn't already been done I'd advise taking it to a specialist to have the geometry set up along with the ride height if you're unsure - I had mine done at Hofmanns last year, but the guys on SELOC or MLOC would probably be able to advise on somewhere good local to you.

Or you could just fit aftermarket dampers meant for a K-Series powered S2.

Possibly - but the brackets are cheaper than changing the dampers.

I only discovered mine had lowering brackets when I'd had enough of my previous setup and took it in to have Nitron Street Series fitted.
