For now the 111R S2 lives in the open (garage rebuild).

On Saturday evening the sidelights turned on of themselves and would not switch off. By morning the battery was flat. On recharging the lights came on and went off intermittently over a 24 hour period, and have now gone off.

Is this a known problem, is the cause identified, is it likely to recur, and is there a known working solution?

I had the same issue a couple of times. Unscrewed the panel where the light switches are, wiggled the wires around a bit and replaced it, which seemed to cure it. Water can get into this area, so check to see if there are any signs of damp.

There is also a control module for the lighting which may be the problem, but I'd start by looking at the switches themselves.

Many thanks for the reply, it is most helpful in pointing me to a possible solution. The lights have now stayed off for 24 hours. If it recurs, I will try a hair dryer on the switches first, and then poke around in the electrics of this fails.
