Anyone know of a low mileage Scandal Green/Chrome Orange S1
Discussion
Scandel Green was only officially available on the Sport 160 I believe, although may have been a few special order base models and 111S's and some changed to it after market.
There is this Sport 160 for sale at the moment, belongs to a guy over on SELOC: http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...
Don't know what you class as 'low' miles though, 41.5k seems reasonable for a 12 year old car to me though and it's a very well sorted car - the owner has a pair of them I believe.

Or a 111S in Scandal here with similar miles: http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

This one's gone. The other as mentioned above is not for me. He states he's restored his car. I want an original one.
I'll simply wait.
No rush. Look at the weather.
(If a lurker has one feel free to PM me).
Your loss on the Sport 160 then - looks near perfect in terms of work done will be much better than an absolutely stock standard one.
Spent over £4k on my S1 this year on sorting out various bits and pieces, they're getting old an bills start to add up, better to have one where the money has already been spent.

An unmolested car these days would be more trouble than not. You'd end up having to do all the restoration bits yourself anyway.
Since when does one need to restore an unmollested car?Recommission yes. Restore no.
Even on a low miler you will need to replace loads of stuff.
Unmollested (in this context)usually means full of crappy stuff from the factory that wasn't very good when it was new never mind 10/15 years later.

This is utterly perfect. Needs nothing. Cherished pristine and quite superb.
What are you talking about? What needs chucking in the bin on this?
I want the best and am prepared to pay for it.

That's the rebuild I've just done on a really pampered car with similar mileage to the car you've linked. Yeah it wasn't exactly rusting away but it was far from showroom fresh.
And by "restored" I don't necessarily mean "modified", but any 199os Elise that's not had its rubber bushes renewed in its life is not going to handle like an Elise should, and the plating on much of the suspension and peripheral components is probably long gone. Nothing wrong with a car that's had some love spent on it.

That's a good thread. I shall sift through it. Thanks. That's the rebuild I've just done on a really pampered car with similar mileage to the car you've linked. Yeah it wasn't exactly rusting away but it was far from showroom fresh.

As above, the one you've posted to may look utterly perfect, but the bushes are likely to be knackered, cars with Bilstein dampers ride a lot better than the original Konis, original radiator is now 13 years old and was always a crap design...
There are a surprising amount of things that need replacing relatively frequently on an Elise, and although they often don't cost much in isolation, the costs really do add up. As with Thorburn, I've spent upwards of £4k on mine in two years getting it into perfect running condition.
I suspect you're applying "reconditioned" as an overly wide term - never mind about putting a label on it, read up more about the cars and check what's actually been done. Lots of parts will be replaced like for like in many cases - this would fall under "reconditioned" yet you're automatically willing to discount and run the risk of having to do it all yourself anyway it because somebody has put a tag on it?
Still, best of luck, they're lovely cars. Would also try and avoid one with the original tyres if you go genuinely low mileage. Red clutch cable was also crap.

^^^^^^^^ What he said.
Better to have a few more miles and the previous owner has put right all the problems like the Red Clutch pipe, suspension, HGF etc.
Maybe one where the windows have already fallen in and been fixed properly .

That's gorgeous. Shame about the ttty big ELISE stickers on the doors. Hate the stick-on numberplate too, looks cack. Nice car though. This dealer had a cracking scandal 160 but alas it's gone.

I agree. The stickers were a bit naff. But can easily be removed.I want a hard top.
The plate again can be removed and a proper one affixed. But condition wise was quite superb.
I wonder what it was up for/achieved?
