This guy is building a Lotus Exige V10 (BMW) with Porsche Boxster S gearbox and many more updates, looks at those big Porsche brakes and nice wheels and all the work...
also he's doing the from RHD to LHD conversion, he's from Zweden.

thats a hell lot of reinventing I guess...

just making the rear frame "longer" wouldn't work...

speciale adapter gemaakt voor de bak

thats taking a lot measurements I think...

mmm fitting big brakes makes sence.

so far part one...making part two in a minute.

part two...

Lotus Exige V10 bmw with boxster S box.

he also makes the most parts himself so it seems, although not the nice weldings, anyway looks gorgeous me thinks.

hier laatste bewerking..wow

here the link to his Topic, he sold his BMW E30 V10 so it seems.

I was just looking at yours on the other forum and wondering how the hell you get anything done somewhere so messy!!

Is it actually a junk yard or something - looks like there are lots of dead cars in the background outside??

To be fair, his doesn't seem to have progressed at any great rate, certainly not at the same rate as the 2-11. (although it would help if I could read the language!) - checked it a year or so back and all he seems to have done is fabricated some wishbones and swapped the wheel to the other side since then.

Be interesting to see how he sorts the bodywork - looks a bit of a botch in the attempted 'renderings' - I'd have preferred to stretch the clam further back, looks like he's just going to add in 5 inches between the roll bar and clam itself.

Bet it'll sound nice though.

Didn't there used to be a company that did pretty much this conversion? Albeit using the supercharged Jaguar V8 rather than the BMW V12?

ETA: Yeah, here it is: http://www.caral.co.uk/Lotus_111_Series.html

I love all these conversions, but is the lotus chassis really the best to be modding in this way? Is it not better to start with something like the ultima chassis and go from there?

Do you mean take out the 730BHP V8 engine and put in a 500BHP V10 engine ?

I bet that will go like stink.

Is the BMW V10 really that good a package to put in that chassis?
I remember seeing an Ultima build with this engine and the amount of sensors, wiring and ECUs(?) to get the engine running made it look a utter nightmare.
Where would all that lot go in an Exige? In the boot?? confused
Still, fair play for putting that much effort in.

Use Google Chrome that can translate the whole page automatically, all stays the same only the words change in any language you choose.

he did made progress though, but its a lot of work.

I don't think he goes for just adding 5 inches between the roll bar and clam itself...thats just done for "fun" because they laid the clam on the back a few inches backwards to cover the wheels.

I've seen picture's and drawings from Caral which also explains how they can do it the more "easy" way...its a bit like how Frank also widens the car.

I did had some picture's how to widen the body and how to stretch it "easy" but sadly can't find them yet...

The chaps putting an M5 V10 in the Ultima where trying to retain the M5 flappy paddle gearbox and factory ECU. This required them to use all the BMW electronics, even down to the headlight switch!

I guess this guy will be using a standalone ECU to run the engine, probably with the original throttle bodies, in which case he will only need the bear minimum of sensors (crank speed, cam speed, ait temp, coolant temp, throttle position, etc) depending on which ECU he is using.

bow to him...

The ultima dose not come with a 730bhp engine! you can put whatever you can get to fit in it. Some are working on fitting BMW V10s and some have install the Audi V10....

My point was is that not a better chassis to start with rather than hacking the lotus chassis about to shoehorn an engine in?

I don't know what all this is, but I guess that has more to do with the conversion from RHD to LHD?

Are those wheels the Team Dynamics 18"s? I like them.

Odd because I am not a fan of the 16/17 TD wheels yet the 17/18 look like a different wheel entirely. I would be tempted by a set.
No, the wheels are ATS Motorsport wheels GTR in dark grey I guess>>

You are correct. Their standard turnkey package is only 720BHP.

Useful thanks. I wonder if they are off the shelf offsets etc for the Exige. I'd be very interested subject to non-crazy prices.
The hubs on the V10 Exige are 5 stud, not 4 bolt like a normal S2 Exige.

I've been following that for a while, since it was mentioned on SELOC, some time ago.

It's a great thread and his use of the Porsche rear suspension setup is very clever.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished smile

Ah yes. 'twas only a cursory glance and missed that. Back in my box...
that should be no problem I guess, they also do them in 4-bolt if that is/was what you seek, see>>

yeah you're right, but agian my point was around the chassis and its suitability not the engine install.

Also i bleive you can actaully get a turnkey 800bhp package as well now (supercharged LS7 using with forged internals and a maguson 2300 scupercharger). Then there is the Nelson Racing offering which can put out over 1600bhp....

The Lotus chassis is not being hacked though - I think the aluminium tub is unchanged and it is a wholly new subframe for the engine/box and rear suspension that will be attached to the tub. So just a new subframe to handle a 500hp V10 - easy... hehe
