I wondered if putting an Exige hard top on an Elise would work? I am sure it would fit and look lovely from the front but the rear may look a bit different without a mod.
I have put a 260 cup "Mohawk" roof on my car (and have made the conversion for a soft top for next summer) and will sell the old roof unless I keep it to put back on the car when I change cars as I invariably do!

Obviously it fits but it will look crap from the rear. Have seen some do it though

Would need some alteration to look good - I have one for £450 if you decide to do it!! wink

Could you put a brake light into the rear end of the intake vent?

It is a good idea, although the electrical wiring to it, might be a phaff. However, a red rear reflector would be cheap and simple to do.

The support and advice given on this thread is laudable, but if this, let’s face it, unsuitable roof, hasn't even been purchased yet, then we shouldn't be encouraging this should we?

To the OP, if you want a hard top for your Elise then buy an Elise hard top. Just because this Exige one happens to be available (presumably in the correct colour), doesn't mean it's a good idea to buy it. There will be proper Elise hard tops for sale elsewhere.

You are probably going to risk derision from members of the car community that recognise what you've done and confusion from others because it will just not look right (and will look nowhere near as good as a proper Elise hard top - a subjective view perhaps, but one that I think you'll find shared by most).

EDIT
Re-reading this, I see that you actually have the Exige and are thinking of selling its original hard top on So you are seeing if there is a wider market for this part in the Elise community?
That's an enterprising idea, but I still don't think we should really be complicit in encouraging such a purchase by an Elise owner. So I guess my original post stands for those thinking of buying.
Sorry for undermining you though donaldosaurus. frown

The brake light or red reflector just shows hoe enterprising Lotus owners can be.
I will get my Exige fitted with Mohawk now and just sell the Exige standard roof on.
