Morning all
With the winter coming and plenty of rain I was wondering how best to clean and treat my roof? Its starting to get green stains along the seams so I would imaging it needs water proofing?
Could anyone tell me firstly how best to clean the roof and also how to treat it to prevent it happening again?

Many thanks

I bought a Lotus roof care box at a parts sale - it had some cleaner stuff and some waterproofing stuff in it. My roof had started to weep water through, but after treatment the water stayed outside. It worked, but there might be something better/cheaper/easier to find on the market.

My S1 was left outside by the previous owner and there was a hauge amount of dirt and mould on it. After using the cleaner it looked much better, but still not like a new roof.

I just used a nailbrush and water to clean mine.

You can buy all sorts of different waterproofing kits.

The manual says use some SOAP (also in capitals in manual!) and water, luke warm, and sponge the roof clean, then rinse fully.

Have done this and it really does seem to work very well.

Not sure if my next trick does make much difference beyond my imagination, but I also slacken the tensioning bars, letting the roof collapse slightly, if I am not using the car for a few days or more.

Once a year or so I use a car washing brush with any old detergent and then spray up with Fabsil, it's fab. Then I just go over it with the sponge when I wash the car.

Cheers Guys
Probably a silly question but is it ok to spray the water proofing with the roof on the car or do I need to take it off?

I wasn't sure so I took the roof off, sprayed it then popped it back on. Five minute job.

Spray with the roof on to ensure all parts are covered with the spray.
