Hi folks,

Off to look at an elise this afternoon at a main dealer, it has 9 previous keeps and its 10 years old.

Is this normal for elises?

Lots of people buy and sell in short amounts of time.

It's not like a hot hatch or regular car - it's tricky to get into and out of, it's sometimes almost invisible on the road, people drive into them when parking, it can be a pain.

So a lot of people seem to sell up quite quickly.

Then again, it offers such a great drive that it's not unusual to find one-owner 14-year old cars either.

Seems excessive...particularly for a car that often becomes a jewel. Throw more details about the car up here once you're back and you may get 9 explanations of why it's been sold from the previous owners?

ETA - I am single owner of a 14 year old example... :-)

I know the previous owner, so I've just pointed him in the direction of this thread, so he may be able to advise.

Looks nice.

I came v.close to buying one in that colour, it seems to be a love it or hate it colour though. Personally really like it.

I've known loads of people who've had an Elise for 12 months or less, the previous owners wouldn't bother me at all.

At the end of this year, mine will be on 10, but 1 of those owners is my mother, and two of them will be me!! Which is a little odd, but there you go.

Probably already know this, but the Sport 135 isn't the same as the 135R - just a standard model with some light cylinder head work and possibly a different exhaust I think.

Seems a little pricey given the mileage and the fact it's an early S2 - long tail roof by the looks of it.

Hi,
I'm the last owner and I can say I only sold the car due a very special SC version coming onto the market.

Previous owners never bothered me. As said elsewhere a lot of people buy them, then realise they are not right for them. The previous owner was an elderly gentleman (a pilot I believe) who found he just couldn't get use to getting in/out of it, so traded it in for a Boxster.

It had lots of history, a plus, but which again didn't really bother me as I like to do as much as the servicing as I can.
The oil was changed 3 times since I owned it with Shell Ultra (once was more of a flush really, I get it free), in fact it had an oil and filter change just before I P/ex'd it as I wasn't planning on selling.
Previous owner had put 4 new tyres on too.

It certainly got me hooked onto LOTI !

Oh, and the colour... I love that colour!

Looks gorgeous to me too but price seems a little high for an early s2.

Just looked at the advert.. It doesn't have central locking! And he has a fair bit to play with, cash wise!

As for the 135 bit, the 135S is a great drive and a good upgrade in my opinion. Very drivable with no lumpy tick-over as evident on the more powerful engines. And pretty economical too!

Yep wasn't a slight against the car - just the limited edition 135R cars are a bit more sought after and command a bit of a premium so thought it was worth mentioning. smile

Thanks for the replies. Had a look at the car, as tony said it is in nice condition, but a bit steep price wise.

Girlfriend had a bit of bother because she is quite short. I will start a new thread on that though

As per emails, I'm sure you can get the price down further!

While its expensive, it's definately eye catching, so don't imagine the dealer will have it for long, although one never can tell.

Wow...look at those finance examples! Try main dealer in West Yorkshire. Much more competitive. Had two Lotus cars from them on much better terms.

They can do better deals than that. They managed to match my 6.2% bank rate so worth asking then for better quotes!
