I recently changed the fronts on my 2004 S2 and put on Falken ZE912's. This was based on the positive feedback about these received from the Scottish Elise forum when I asked the same question. I went for 195/45R16's to ensure no clearance issues.

Got ze912's on the rear at the meoment, (S2 111s) will match these up with new ze912's on the fronts when they are due. They feel Ok, but then I don't track it, just normal / fast road use.

Have you considered AD08s for the rear ? I recently moved to them as the AD07's were for me, just to much

So far they have been pretty good.

keep the replies coming guys, i thought about the ad07 front ad08 rear combo where is cheapest for the rears? Also the falken 912 are an interesting option too, would they be as good as say tr1 or khumo ku31's? I am mainly road use,i would like the ad"s all round but my funds don't stretch that far at the moment.

I tried finding some eco tyres to both increase mpg and reduce grip but to no avail the required tyre sizes seem to limit choice somewhat.

Have heard good things about 08's but never used them myself, would it not be best to have a matched set though all round so grip is consistent?

what size fronts?i think the ad08 come in 205 min front ,too wide for standard front alloys on the elise, hence some folk do the 07/08 combo

I've just gone for the AD07/AD08 combo as just my rears needed replacing.

Seem like a very good tyre, and cost £128 each including fitting and valves at my local tyre place.
(Much better than the £200+ each the AD07's would have been)

My 111r had Falken 912's fitted by the previous owner, and tbh I'm really not impressed with them.

I've run falkens on 2 previous cars ('89 911 and E46 330ci) and always been happy with them, but they just seem to rob the Elise of the feel and grip they're so famed for. They're predictable on the limit, but I find those limits are far lower than I remember from the test drives I had in Yoko shod cars.

I've not tried any other budget tyres for risk of having the same issues, so have just bitten the bullet and booked mine in for 4 AD07's to be fitted at Christopher Neil's next week..

Edit to add, the fronts are 195/50, not sure what bearing that has on the steering feel issue, but they are quite 'balloooney' on the standard S2 front wheels

Will be able to shed some light on the track element after this weekend, Shnozz. I'm taking the Exige to one of the 'How Fast' sessions at Bedford on Saturday, it will be the first time on track since having the AD08s fitted in December. Shameful of me that it's taken this long!

As I understand, AD08's don't fit standard Elise front wheels (too wide)?

I've heard of a number of people fitting AD08 rears and AD07 fronts though, but I've also also heard opposing comments suggesting differences in construction between the two make this far from ideal. I've no idea how much fact there is in all this so I decided to play it safe and go for 07's all round (yep, expensive!)

Does anyone have RE040s on the front and AD08s on the rear ? Thats my current setup and wondered what people might be running them at PSI wise
