Scratched headlight cover on S2- suggestions?

Due to an act of stupidity on my part I've got a scratch on the plastic headlight cover on my '07 S2. It's about the size of my thumb and in the middle of the cover- it passed its MOT with it there so it's not a problem in that respect, it's just that I can see it and it bugs me. Short of shelling out £600 to get a new headlight fitted does anyone else have any suggestions?

ETA The chap I've just spoken to at Bell & Colville was very helpful, suggesting that I try some wet & dry on it but I've not got the time or space at the moment (plus I'm a complete newbie and therefore scared of making it worse). Can anyone recommend anywhere near Kingston that might be able to fix it?
