Mine failed about 3 years ago where-up-on I bought a replacement unit. This lay forgotten until tonight when I came accros it.
Now to the question, I've lived without it for all this time and I'm wondering if it's worth bothering replaceing the unit or not?
Will the new unit fail like the old one or was there a fault in the original unit that has been modified?

AFAIK the units are the same and there hasn't been a 'magic' fix. A new one may fail again given time, due to vibration / excess humidity etc?

It's only a 20 minute job to replace, even for a mechanical numpty like me and as you have one already, if you have the time... There's a wiki on SELOC for fitting one.

I guess though if you're happy just using the key then stick with it, but if you want to sell the car, then it's an easy fix.

Thanks, I've seen the "fix" on SELOC so I'll give it a go, spare time and weather permitting.
