Hey guys, I have recently bought myself a 2005 Elise 111S just in time for a 'C' service smile and I was wondering if anyone had a guide as to how much it is likely to cost me? The cam belts were changed in 2009 so I don't think they will need changing again until next year.

I would also appreciate any suggestions of wheres best to get it done, I live near Reading in Berkshire.

Thanks!

Thanks, where do you get your services done?

Do the cam belts need doing? They used to be part of the C-service, but then Lotus shortened the recommended interval from six years to four so they no longer fit in with the schedule properly.

No, I don't think the cams need to be done this service as they were done in 2009. So, if they are due every four years... that makes them due for next years service.

So it's just a C service but no cam belts.

Probably shouldn't be more than about 300 then. The cam belts are the expensive bit of the C-service.

There's loads of specialists around. Sportomotive are good but a bit pricy; fibreglass services are OK and fairly cheap if you can put up with Miles' particular brand of customer service; then there's a few places in and around Guildford like Lakeside Engineering and Back on Track.

To be honest though, anyone can service an Elise. It's not a complicated car.

I use Neil Garner, but he's nowhere near you.

Are Sportomotive considered expensive ? I was under the impression that whilst not necessarily being the cheapest, they were quite competitive. I have been using them for the last 3yrs and was planning on using them again in October.

Who else is there in the Area e.g. Bmth, Southampton, Salisbury that are as good, but cheaper

Depends on what you're after I suppose. They aren't expensive for specialists, but it's just a K-series lump; any garage could service it perfectly well.

Specialised Paintwork are actually in Reading and know Lotuses and can service a K series elise I think - I've not used them myself, but have read some positive things about them on forums (and did think about trying them at one point).

As alternatives there's Steve Williams in Maidenhead, who I've taken my car to in the past. Out of those others have mentioned I've also used Lakeside Engineering (near Addlestone) and Back-on-Track (Guildford). I'd be happy with any of those servicing my car again.

Have a look here at some of the prices (Specialised are listed - dunno how up to date the info on prices is on that page though):

Back on Track are the way to go. It's like putting your car into a operating theatre to get worked on!! Very clean and Steff and Jez are very knowledgeable

They helpfully don't say how much a C-service without belts is.

Just had a C service on my 111S from Bell & Covill a couple of months ago £406
http://www.bellandcolvill.com/

The total was a bit more as I had new pads as well. They wanted to do the disks as well but I didn't think they needed it. Gave the air con a free regas as well.

Uncanny coincidence that I bought my 2006 111S and the first service it needed was a C.

Surely a 2005 car should have had its C-service last year? smile

I didn't even know they were still making K-series Elises in 2006. Must be one of the very last?
