Hi!

I was out the other day in my 05 Exige and there's a couple of roundabouts you can practically straight line with a quick kink left right, nice when it's dry!

They are slightly bumpy though. Anyway... I gunned it across the first one in 3rd and out the corner of my eye I saw red flashing from the dashboard lights. It happened again on another roundabout where lets say, I was using the speed limit to the maximum.

It was either the oil light, or engine malfunction indicator as they are the only red ones where I think it came on.

Has anyone ever heard of this? It happened right at the peak of using all the grip available, I wasn't screaming the engine at top revs or anything. Was almost like a traction control light!! It wasn't a specific blink or pulsing, it was a light flickering due to what was going on at that particular time on the road. Could even be a loose connector?

If it was oil, could it be from the car shifting it's weight and oil movement in the engine?

I'm finding my petrol amber indicator to be and bit weird. I will set off on a journey with it on, then it goes off and I'm back to 1 bar left....

This can happen when the oil level is very low.

On my 08 Elise when you go hard round a roundabout the brake warning light comes on - claiming the brake fluid is low. Apparently it's because the container is fitted turned at 90 degrees to how it was intended for its orignal use and so the sensor is on the right side.

Hi,

I have seen the same on my S1 Elise and S2 Exige when driving on track. It's the brake fluid level warning light and comes on after a sustained left turn (like leaving the banking at Rockingham).

I would check the fluid level and check it really is that light coming on.

I THINK the sensor is in the screw on filler cap (it's just a float). As they other poster says, they probably all do it!

It may be the handbrake warning lamp - I can get mine to light if I take a local roundabout enthusiastically.

More than likely. Worth topping up the brake fluid as its dropping below the minimum as it sloshes about round corners.

Check the connections on to the battery terminal lugs aren't slightly loose.

The alarm / shift light can flicker if there is a slightly loose connection there.

Worth checking.

That or if you've got a way of securely mounting one then rig up a video camera to film the dash?

My money would be on the brake fluid warning. Always more prevalent as the pads get low...
