Buying a S1 Elise as a 'keeper'
Discussion
Morning
I'm thinking of buying an S1 Elise to keep (rather than selling after less than a year as I usually do!).
I'm after something in excellent, unmodified condition. It won't be a museum piece, but will only be used pretty infrequently (1500 to 3000 miles a year maybe?).
There doesn't seem to be very much around at the moment - I'd appreciate advice on what I should be looking for, and if anyone is aware of any suitable cars that might be around. I've assumed that I'll be better off finding an excellent 118hp early car, but would it be worth stretching to something else?
Thanks for your help

To buy for keeps? Sport 160
Logically speaking it's not the best but future values are partially driven by emotional attraction. I'd have another for sure.
If you are going to keep it then future value doesn't matter.Logically speaking it's not the best but future values are partially driven by emotional attraction. I'd have another for sure.
If you plan on selling it at some point then yes, a 160 would probably be the most likey to keep/increase it's value.

Good point captain.
Was just basing it on the more realistic aspect of people saying 'for keeps' when it almost never is forever and ever. A 160 to hand down as inheritance would be pretty cool anyways, when everyone is in a car sounding like a hair dryer and this old plastic lotus is sitting there with it's lump lump lump tickover
I did this back in 2010, I bought a WVTA Sport 160 with 32k miles on her. My intention was to keep it for at least 5 years to see what happened with the value of them. I now have a 42k Mile 160 which needs a little paint on the front clam to tidy it up and thoughts of selling it to fund a Porsche GT3, I'm sorry but I never thought I would bring myself to post that but I just have ...
