I've had my s1 elise (2000/W) just over 2 weeks and it was the best buying decision ever. I've got used to the quirks of the brakes and noises etc. but I have a very annoying squeak from the rear end of the car as I drive it slowly (in those rare moments of having to go through the odd high street or two not bounding down the B roads). It sounds like the brakes are slightly binding to me. The wheels are warm (not scorching hot), so I'm not overly concerned. Is this a characteristic of the car, or should I have this looked at. The car has only covered just under 5k miles from new, so its entirely possible that it is binding, but the wheel temperature for the back wheels is pretty similar, so it could be the handbrake not releasing ?

Anyone come across similar issues ?

Get it looked at it may be nothing but it could cause more damage if you leave it!

It appears to have been rust on the discs causing problem. I suspect this is legacy from the previous owner not using the car much, storing wet after washing etc. A trip to Haydon and discussing with them put my mind at ease, they said that it was likely rust or a slightly binding hand brake. I'll have the latter checked at the next service. The rear wheels are still warm after a drive, however I suspect that is due to my driving, grin :-)
