So on my way home yesterday I was driving on some unlit country roads for the first time in my elise (face lift my10). Scared myself stless... The dipped beam alignment must be way out because I can only see about 5 meters in front of me, everywhere else its pitch black, every bend a surprise. Full beam On where I would not normally need it in the s2k on the same road.
Even motorway driving is scary, a deer could be static in the middle of the road and I wouldn't see it until I'm dead.

I'm about 6ft. Looking straight ahead on a flat road the light cut off (a messy zig zag) reaches about 30% of the way up the windscreen, the middle 30% would be the rest of the road ahead I cant see, and above that sky above the horizon, if you get what I mean. Is this a "characteristic"?

The other thing... Are the rpm and speedo dials supposed to be backlit when the lights are on?
Mine arent. If it werent for the sat nav and the digital kph (can this be changed to mph?) I'd have no clue what speed I'd be doing, especially since I cant see anything.

Thanks
S

Yes, the stack should be backlit when the lights are on!

The lights aren't the best (wait until you are faced with the bright lights of oncoming traffic eek ), but can aparently be made better by proper alignment. You could also put in some decent Philip/Osram etc bulbs.

If it's like the S1 then the Stack trip reset button also adjusts the dial brightness.

I tried pushing and holding the button but nothing happened, I'm not convinced its not user error because I had 100% focus on what was in front of me (lots of rabbits) so will try again later.

This is the S2.5 stack btw. Another quirk of this stack is that it doesn't tick when signalling. I was told that this is a feature of the LED front light elise's (I guess the tick in non-LED cars is actually from the solenoid clicking rather than something meant as informative), takes a little getting used to, specially as the signal led's are hidden from view when the wheel is turned up side down... smile

If it's the same as my late 2008 Exige with the later dash and clocks, then the dials should be backlit whether the lights are on or off.

Using the trip switch adjust until the display show's kph, then turn on the headlights, then press and hold the trip switch until your display light either illuminate more or less when they are at the required brightness level release the button.

Re- your headlight take the car to a friendly mot tester and ask if either they/you could adjust the light to the top of the allowable limit's for the mot.

Thanks, will try that combo.
I love a singular push button with multiple functions...
