Has anyone done a toyota engine swap in an early K series S2 elise? Would it be a straight forward enough job, or is the wiring too different?

I think there would be subframe issues also.

If you are going to go to the trouble then put a Honda in it.

As above, seem to remember seeing it done in the past for a race car and there were a lot of issues getting it to fit. Honda, Duratec or Audi 1.8T/2.0TFSI conversion have all been and are probably better options.

The rear clam is different too - the boot is smaller on the Toyota powered cars.

I can't imagine why you'd want to fit that engine over a K20, anyway.

Isn't the wheelbase different too? Or am I imagining that?

Don't know why you'd choose to go down the Toyota route, it's a relative boat anchor when you factor in the new subframe etc.

I don't think it's a case of just bolting on the new subframe, either.

Duratec, Honda, Audi, as suggested, all seem like better options.
