The air conditioning is not working, although the light does come on when I click the button. When I bought the car I had it inspected and they said that is mostly likely the resistor pack that requires changing.

However the heater works usually when I've driven the car for about 10 minutes, sometimes it works straight from when I start up the car?

Has anybody experienced this?

Sounds like resistor pack is intermittent at the moment, try the fast speed because that uses less connections on the pack. But ultimately all the speeds will go eventually, until the pack is changed or replaced with the upgraded one.

I had similar symptoms on my Elise a couple of years ago and eventually the heater stopped altogether and it did end up being the resistor pack. Not a cheap job unfortunately.

To add - I think it was a good six months before it finally packed in and I ran it without for a year afterwards.

If you are close enough to Guildford I can thoroughly recommend back on track if you wanted an opinion on it.

Thanks chaps, good to know that it's a common problem, however not so good that they can't design the resistor pack so it doesn't corrode, hopefully it's not a sign of things to come. Roughly how long does it take them to fit it?

It's a clam off job to replace it, so it's a good few hours.

The later ones are situated in a slightly different place so they don't suffer from the same problem so make sure you get one of those units fitted rather than the older one that sits in a puddle.

It's worth a quick check of the connections behind the switch (they are known to come loose).
