After a few years of hankering after an Exige I've finally took the plunge and hopefully buying one tomorrow. It's a 10 plate S2 with performance and touring packs in my favorite colour for an Exige, Grey. I've waited this long so decided to get the best one I could find. It's up in Aberdeen so had kind of ruled it out for being too far away but luckily I have to go there with work so killing 2 birds with 1 stone. If it's as nice as the pics and the owner suggest, my first trip will be a 400 mile drive back from Scotland. Unfortunately it's forecast heavy rain just about all over the country on thursday so I'll have some cleaning to do this weekend.

I've been advised to take some ear plugs but the touring pack does give me an ipod connection. Happy days.

Hello.
Good choice of car that you will not regret. ( I am on my 3rd Exige)
Your car should be on AO48 tyres which are very good in the dry but completely the opposite in the wet.
Be careful on your drive back home and avoid standing water where possible.
I picked my current car up from Edinburgh and drove all the way home to Southampton. Mostly dry but some wet patches on the motorway.
Most of all ................ Enjoy it.

Thanks for the advice... the car is indeed on A048s....Looking at the forecast around the country it's going to be impossible to avoid heavy rain so I will be hitting standing water at some point. I wasn't ever intending to use the car in the rain but don't think picking car up could have fell on a rainier day. I'll be sticking to the motorway on the trip back so will slow up a bit if the rain gets too heavy.... but should be ok....

Good luck mate, it'll be an exciting journey. I went a long way down South to collect mine, I can still remember every bit of the journey!

Once you're dialled in, you'll have to get yourself down to Cadwell. These cars were made for that place.

Have fun, & take it nice & steady on the way back. biggrin

Best of luck with it. My first drive home in mine was a mix of bright sun and torrential rain on the A048s. As said, take care and you'll be fine!

Cheers guys.... I do intend to do a few track days.... with Cadwell being most likely as its my local track...

Just out of interest.... what do you all pay for insurance... I've been quoted £640 fully comp with £500 xs.... thats from taylor henderson.... not too bad on a £30k+ car.... I do have full ncb, 40 years old and good driving history... worth trying anywhere else?

Safe journey down, John. The reputation for not liking standing water is entirely justified, even with road-biased tyres on! You'll love every second in spite of that - they're wonderful little cars. I hope to see you at a NYLOC meeting soon, we have quite a few members from the Humber area. Oh and a few of us are off to Blyton Park for a track day next month so PM me if you're interested.

Well got the car home safely with no dramas despite some quite horrendous conditions. Thanks for the advance warning about the tyres aquaplaning as whenever I did hit standing water I slowed down. If I hadn't been warned I may well have carried on at speed blissfully unaware of potential loss of control etc when hitting water.

Also big thanks to cirvy recommending Manning. Saved £120. :-)

I am interested in track days so feel free to send me details. Also being a Lotii newbie I'm not clued up on clubs and good meets etc so feel free to let me know.

There's a novice track day at Blyton on the 26th May through LoT. Could be a good introduction if you've never done one. I'll be there, it would have been my first but I managed to squeeze in a day in April when we had the snow (baptism of fire).

Hey chaps

I'm soon to join the Exige party soon too.

I've been backpacking around the world since November - and looking at Piston Head classifieds pretty much everyday I'm online! So excited - I get back May 25th and I'm desperate to have one for the Le Mans 24 hours. I even have a ferry ticket booked.....

I'm looking for a 'S' - around 2007-2008 - pref white, then orange, then red or electric blue. The white ones fly off the shelves, it's frustrating watching them come and go so quickly (I'm currently in Canada)!!!

I'm 24 and best quote is £1396 from elephant so far.

I notice plenty seem to up for sale from Murrays in Edinburgh - I'm based in Essex so that's a hell of a road trip - but so be it if no other ones come up!
