Hello again.
Noob question #2
Is the plug really that rubish? My phone charger just falls off, therefore losing my satnav capabilities mid trip... grrr. Ended up wedging a water bottle between it and the hand brake. Tried other standard 12v plugs I have and nothing remains attached.

Had a good look and doesn't seem to be broken, is there a Lotus adapter, some other purpose, or is it really from the same parts catalog as the fuel cap lock?

Cheers

Hmm, mine is fine - are you sure the plug is not broken? It has some small sprung plates inside that might be goosed.

Is your GPS charger knackered?

The charger is definetely not knackered. Its just one of those lighter socket to USB things, nipple at the end and two spring things at the sides, standard shape. The plug socket just spits it straight out, doesn't feel at all like they were made for each other. Its as though its missing the depressions where the side springs on the plug would normally hold onto. Power is tranfered when I hold it in...

Can you twist it slightly once it's in?

Maybe bend the spring tabs on the charger a little?

It twists right round, just doesn't catch onto anything. I'll try to bend the tabs as you say... weird as I dont see how they could be pulled flushed from use, or pushed from the other side. I guess it came out of the factory with the tabs unbent.

Still the most fun car I've ever driven, which forgives a lot. Just disappointed at the cheapness of the "bits" on such a expensive car.

The original socket on my S1 used to be very loose and not hold plugs in at all. I replaced it with one that I got online from Maplins. It only cost a few quid and was easy enough to swap over.

It is quite annoying finding these silly little things where some bean counter at Lotus was obviously trying to save a couple of quid... on stuff the customer would physically handle... on a car costing 38k new...

Still love it though smile
