Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone could advise me on new tyres, i need a full set for my exige S2, which is unfortunately pretty pricy. So am looking at different options.

I will be using the car on track a few times as well as general road driving as it is my only car.

I have the Yoko A048s on at the moment and have looked at maybe getting some Toyo R888

Are there any others i should consider or should definitely avoid?

Also if anyone knows of a cheaper supplier that would be great?

Thanks in advance for all the help

Chazz

Camskill always used to be good for 888's and give a discount to SELOC members. Not bought 888's for a year+ :-(

If you're not bothered about full stickies then try a set of Yokohama AD08s in 205/45/16 and 225/45/17.
£500 a set and a bloody excellent allrounder.

I run R1Rs on my Elise - not quite as hard core as R888's/AO48s but perfect for my needs (80+% road driving).

About the same price I think as R888's but should last longer as more tread to begin with.

I switched to R1Rs last year after 3 years on Yoko A048s. So far, I much prefer the R1Rs. They seem sticky enough for making enthusiastic progress in the dry and have a decent amount of grip in the wet unlike the A048s. Similar money and wear rate but, a better all round tyre for me. NB. I have not tried the R1Rs on track yet so, not sure yet how they perform on the limit.

Chazz ill take the front tyres of you. As long as they are around 2mm tread and no damage etc, obviously pending payment and delivery agreement between us.

PM if you're interested in sorting something out.

Thanks

Ashley

Hi, Thanks for all the help everyone, very much appreciated.

Ashley, unfortunately one of the fronts had a large nail through it following an airfield driver training day and the other ones are also pretty ruined as a result, hence the need for a full new set.

Thanks

Chazz

^^Very much this.

After initially kidding myself that I could happily continue to burn out a rear pair of A048s every 6months with road use, I finally switched from A048s to AD08s (was around £460 for a full set for me)and haven't looked back since.

Fantastic all-rounder.
