Morning all, I have just been given the chance to buy, from a dealer, an Elise II...today (for list price). He claims that it was ordered for their first customer who got bored waiting and took back his money, and so I can have it....the questions are.. 1) does anyone actually have one yet? 2) what do you all think the realistic waiting time currently is? 3) is he doing the 'you must buy today or someone else will have it' thing? any opinions / thoughts much appreciated cheers Night

Or maybe they pre-ordered a few hoping to sell them at a premium as per Elise S1? Just a possibility. AdrianR

Well I picked it up yesterday, and its the daddy I have to admit.... Its Ice Blue with Race tech option pack (would probably have chosen gunmetal if it were my choice but this ouwld have been second anyway!) considering my esprit and the numerous elises I have driven its like a different vehicle...its actually been built properly (or so it would appear!) bloody great, but 60mph sucks badly at the moment. Night Mike....whats yours???

Hi Mike, My housemate has just said "oh no...silver, bloody impossible to spray (hes a bodyshop mech)...but then his main comment so far has been "It isnt made of metal and it doesnt have 8 cylinders...not proper" Im in St Albans....you? I am getting a replacement gear knob from Lotus, cos I think the half leather/half metal one looks like a sex toy...!! its bloody horrible IMHO only 700 miles to go.....

yeah - pretty much so....there are two fastening screws in the 'vented' bit on the top which unscrew, and after that it just unscrews from the top of the stick....I think most replacements just screw on, but they might have fixing screws too - will find out soon. Its all scarily trouble free and superb so far (fingers very much crossed) - bit of a shock that! Still - its a Lotus...somethings got to fall off soon Night

Mike, found out today - apparently you're being a girl Its simply a screw fitting onto the shaft - you just have to turn it HARD (anticlockwise obviously) and it will unscrew. sorry about the 'two screws' mis-information...had heard it from Lotus and posted here without double checking it myself! cheers Night
