Would appreciate some information on luggage capabilities, comparing S2 Elise and S2 Exige. Been in an Exige, but payed little attention to detail as far as room is concerned.
Just wondered if they were like for like with space.
These cars were on my shortlist as my soon to be purchase, however i am swaying more towards the Cayman and Boxster S, but still have an itch with the lotus!!
I am Doing a Euro Tour in August, and in general the car will no doubt be used for B roads, tours ect, but will be on track occassionally.
I am doing 2 weeks in Europe, Myself and my Girlfriend, taking a small tent, two sleeping bags and obviously enough clothes for two weeks. Would the Lotus handle this lot. Is there a luggage rack that can be purchased for the Elise SC 2010 MY.
Cheers

It's a question that I've asked before and I realise it's difficult with the search function being less that satisfactory.
The general concensus is that there is a surprising amount of room. In the boot you can stuff loads around the sides and you can also stuff bags behind the seats plus under your passengers legs.
There isn't a rack (like the S1 has) but you can certainly get enough in for a weeks camping (if you're economical with what you bring.
If you get one then just buy those soft stuff sacks.
Hope that helps

It's not even vaguely an annoyance nor a stress - I'm just pointing out that there are lots of posts on here, and pointing it out for a reason:
There was a luggage that thread had plenty of photographs showing exactly what you can get in Elises and Exiges, if it's gone past the 4th or 5th page I'll be v.surprised.
If you search for them, it means you'll see the photographs of what people are actually getting in their cars - which is obviously considerably more useful than knowing you can get x litres of luggage in the boot when you don't know what shape it is!

I took my Exige to a wedding last weekend, while all luggage went into the boot fine, my suit was stuffed behind the seat & my guest had to be helped in & out of the car thanks to her dress/shoe combo! Not the most graceful of cars!
Incidentally, my brother has a Cayman - it's nickname is the ‘Millennium Falcon' due to having loads of 'smuggling' luggage space up front!

Boot space on the Exige and Elise is the same AFAIK. No obvious difference between my S2 Elise and my Exige.
Le Mans last year - 2 x tents, 2 x folding chairs etc, careful packing, lots of small soft bags and taking the Tetris packing approach
2010 rear wing does make it slightly more awkward to pack/unpack the boot, especially if you're a short arse.

Just laughing at your above comment.lolIncidentally, my brother has a Cayman - it's nickname is the ‘Millennium Falcon' due to having loads of 'smuggling' luggage space up front!
Thanks for the Pics guys. It's the only doubt i have about Purchasing a Lotus over the Porsche, is purely Luggage space!!
No problem with luggage as others have stated.
The only thing that might be worth considering between the Elise and Exige is that on mountain passes in my Elise I find myself looking through the roof-space to look for traffic coming down as I climb, especially going into hairpins. When the roof is on I'm definitely slower because of this. The roof line is quite low / far ahead.

I'd imagine that's a bit of a rare event for most people. You can take the roof off an Exige anyway, and take a soft-top with you instead. Doesn't look great, but it's a good enough solution for a one-off trip or whatever to the alps. I'm based in Switzerland and use my lotus almost exclusively on the passes. The OP asked about tours and as most European tours seem to include my usual roads I thought the comment on what its like to drive here might be useful.
