I thought an exige roadster was an Elise?

As you say was.

This is new direction of Lotus and I for one love it's subtleties. Still prefer the hardtop version though but it's a brave step from Lotus and also one that opens their market up a bit more.

Bit odd though, in the winter when you put the hard top on you have an Exige...

Not saying I dont like it, I think it is beautiful. Just an odd concept.

Think of the S3 Elise as the 4-pot with 136bhp or 220bhp, and the Exige as the V6 with 350bhp and entirely different bodywork, wider track, bigger wheels.

You can have roofless or hard top versions of either, but you'll never confuse the current Elise or Exige for each other - the differences are huge.

There is a massive thread in general gassing on this. The marketing implications of a roofless Exige seem to be far more interesting to them than the actual car, which says a lot about the primary interest of the average PH poster.

I can't wait for my local dealer to get an Exige in so I can have a good look at one, and hopefully a drive.

I thought you always could remove the roof section of Exiges? Or is the V6 the first one that you can't?

You couldn't on the S1, you can on the S2 and S3(V6). The S2 didn't have a soft top as a factory option though.

So if you can remove the roof of the V6 coupe, what is different about the roadster? surely not just that they give you a canvas soft top with it?

The Roadster doesn't have the rear spoiler and has a 145mph speed limiter to prevent damage to the canvas roof.

The latest price list shows the Exige S at £52,900 inc. VAT but excluding on the road costs.

That's what I was told originally, press release differs though: "The top speed for the Exige S Roadster is 233 kph (145 mph) and it produces just 236 g of CO2 per km."

From the other thread, I think it starts at 53k. Not sure what you get for that, though.

I like the look of the Roadster. Anything that gets rid of that spoiler is a massive improvement imo. The all silver wheels look better as well.

Bobo, I think you are going to have to wait a little longer than you were promised judging by some of the info on these forums. Bad form by Lotus. If they have genuinely got all of these orders they should be working flat out to fulfill them.
