So I went for a little shake down cruise in the twisties and came to stop at the overlook on Mulholland 's Snake to shoot the brezze with some of my biker buddies.
After a while i see an Evorsa and a couple of pickups pull in to do a photo shoot. It turns out it was Townsen Bell who is driving the Evora for Alex Job Racing along with a few peeps from Wheel Pros....
http://www.townsendbell.com/racing/news ... eries.html

I met Townsen a few years back when he was doing a show on Speedvision with Taner Foust doing a driver / car shoot out with the Sector 111 Exige vs Porsche and Ferrari. He saw my car and instantly asked if he could take it for a drive so I tossed him the keys and told him to keep it below 8,000 rpm and let me know what he thought when he got back up to the look out...

So he runs down the snake and back up with a st eating grin on his face..... The first thing he says when he gets out is that it was the fastest car he's ever driven and compared the acceleration with an F1 car, he then said he wished my engine was in his Lotus GTE race car that he will be driving in the American Le Mans Series biggrin

Expect to see the rocket pig photos in a few places soon... http://driftfotos.com/

So now I got some free passes to the race at Long Beach...

Funny thing, when he got to the top of the run he said the throttle stuck open and he bounced off the 9,000 rpm limiter in third and almost lost it...that's 127 mph... There is no way anyone could reach that speed and live on that road..confused

Ridiculous performance. Thank u sir may i have another.

I tried everything I could do to get the throttle to stick and I can't get it to stick.... I guess he should have kept his shoes on, it must have been a hang nail while heel and toeing biglaugh

He does say he jumped on the clutch when it stuck open. So I guess that means it didn't actually max out 3rd gear.

Have you ever taken the car to any kind of straight line speed trial? What is the quickest its been driven?

If you mash on the clutch while the throttle is stuck wide open all you get is a higher reving engine untill you turn the engine off...yikes
A missed shift would get you bouncimg off the 9,000rpm limitter because we all know it's never the drivers fault... nono
He could have tried left foot braking and mashed the clutch instead of the brake peddle, there are a number excuses you could use when you're over your head in the twisties....Only the video they were shooting will tell...

I did watch as he came up the hill and wondered why was he driving so slow...rolleyes

It will hit 193 mph in fifth gear at 9,000 rpm.

Ok he didn't miss a shift and wasn't in third.....Cool
My money is on braking and hitting the throttle at the same time since the peddles are setup very close together...

Cracking article! And the car looks great as every. Liking the rear wing it really finshes the back off.

Quick question on the cooling, it states you have two engine radiators and four Heat exchanges for the chargecooler. Do you run the water the the engine comartment rad fuirst and then to the front or just run them parallel?

Where are the 4 x HEs mounted for the chargecooler? I would guess at two up fornt and one in each side scoop?....

Thanks, it was funny just meeting up like that out of the blue.
The chargecooler heatexchangers consist of the two stock oil coolers, a vertical mounted 8"x26" cooler up front and a ProAlloy setup mounted under the radiator. The rear radiator really maks a difference in cooling with all the heat coming off the chargecoolers up front....

I was wondering how effective the rear mounted rad would be as its sat in the engine bay. Good that it makes a difference though! Then again with the coolers up fornt blocking the Rad (2 from what you said above) i bet the air is pretty warm once it gets to the rad anyway!

Are the side pods clear (no rads)? Could this not be a cgood place of 2 smaller HE instead of one of the units blocking the rad? Just a thought.

The front rads have 2 pusher and two puller fans on them, the rear rad has two puller fans mounted below... You don't want to block direct airflow to the engine bay since it is sealed off from the bottom..
