I sat in an Exige recently and was dismayed to realise that my right knee ends up jammed between the door and the wheel due to my lankiness. This is a problem in my current MX5 if i'm honest, but it's workable, whereas I pretty much wouldn't be able to drive an Elise/Exige.

As i'm indulging in some Sunday afternoon dreaming, my question is this; is it possible to fit a spacer to move an Elise wheel closer to the driver? If yes, are aftermarket parts the only option for this? Has anyone tall done this and found it effective? Also, as later cars started to get airbags, is it possible to space those wheels without losing the airbag?

I'm in no position to buy one yet, but it would be nice to know it wasn't off the cards.

Thanks.

I've got mine spaced to the point where I can only just reach the indicators with my hands on the wheel. Next step is to make some indicator stalks that come closer to me so I can space it further.

Mine is a non-airbag car.
