Taking my car to Dick Loveitt (yes i know) Lotus in Swindon tomorrow to have the drivers site door sorted. It no longer stays shut. THey say apparently the doors tend to come out of allignment a bit so it should just be labour.

Im guessing an hours labour but how much would this sort of thing be at Lotus as its the first time Ive taken it in

Dick lovett are NOT a Lotus dealer any more, So I guess you will be paying Ferrari labour costs as they will be the guys workig on it.

Also, isn't door alignment a clam-off job? If so, it'll be more than an hour.

They did my clutch about 3 years ago, labour rates were £90 an hour.

Maybe give Neil Garner out by Kemble a call and see if it's something they can do?

I use Quins Specialist Cars out by Wootton Basset for regular servicing, but will likely try Neil Garners next time I need anything more specialised done.

They are still officially a lotus service center I think but you are right it is at the Ferrari dealership. Let's hope it's not at their rates. Heading over there in an hour and a half so I guess I will find out soon !!

Didn't even consider it would be a clam off job.

As I said above, they charge £90 an hour labour. I wouldn't be going there personally and they're literally 1/4 of a mile from my house. Only had the clutch done there as I couldn't drive the car and so PUSHED it to the dealership!

They did lower their prices to match some specialists for lotus work, no idea if that is still the case. Alan in parts though is very helpful.

£52 all in and my door now both opens... and closes again !!

Very happy. I got to poke around the cars in the showroom while i was waiting so all good

They did bring back a list of niggly issues they found with the car but that is normal for any main dealer.

The main reason I went there was the car was bought there when they were a Lotus dealer and has only ever been serviced / maintained by them. When I booked it in the first thing they said was 'ahh thats xxx old car' so they know it well

There you go..not a bad price..but almost some bad advice in terms of not going there. Always more important to find somewhere you trust over price.
