Battery help - Elise s2

bought a maintenance charger from halfords to keep the elise battery charged through the winter, its got a 'smart connect lead' which you leave attached to the battery and then pugs into the charger - which would be quite useful to save all the croc clip stuff every time. the following are the instructions for connecting up when the battery stays connected to the car.

'connect the +ve clip to the +ve terminal and connect the -ve clip to a clean part of the vehicle chassis... Ensure that you do not connect the -ve clip on or close to a fule pipe or the battery'

so question is - where should i connect the permanent -ve clip? any ideas - i cant see any metal chassis near the battery - all plastic!

I have it connected (croc clip) to the - on the battery and seems to be working fine.

I would like the wires from the battery to be a little longer and glue the conector to the a vent on the engine cover to save opening the boot to connect to the charger/conditioner, but its not too much hassel.

Mine (not a Halfords one) is connected directly to the battery. And it's fine.
