Have Evo got their facts wrong on the Exige S V6?
Discussion
I've just got issue 166 of Evo magazine specifically for the article on the new Exige. Disappointing article, tells you more about Millbrook than the car. Anyway, this is what they are saying (there are other stats but these are the ones I reckon/know are wrong):
Weight (kerb): 1055g
Basic price: c£56,000 (est)
I know the price is wrong, I have one on order and the basic price is £49,900, with all the options I've spec'd and delivery its not even £55,000.
It makes me wonder where they get their "facts" from.
On the weight front I think the original figure was 1080Kg, that then went up to 1170Kg lately, so where did they get 1055Kg from?

Can't help you out with the fact/figures, but completely agree with your comments about the article, complete waste of ink, not even a comment on how it handles. I appreciate that there may be an imbargo, and that it was a development mule, but come on, most of the development must be done by now, so it should go like a real one. What a waste, very dissapointed in EVO (again, if the truth be known lately)
Lotus aren't exactly known for giving exact figures lol. I've seen that many different weights and 0-100 times for Lotus I don't know what's going on, Lots are bashing this v6 saying its too expensive I really hope when it gets a proper review that many will be eating their words. I've had 2 Exiges and I'm pretty sure in fact I'm positive a third will be on the cards in the V6 but bit rich for me yet.
There has at least been some decent evidence of a good 0-100mph time (8.11 seconds if I remember correctly) which was measured by someone on SELOC I think using one of the Exige S development videos from the Exige microsite. OK, thats not the 7.8 seconds which was originally stated and we don't know whether the car featured is exactly like the production model, but it at least bodes well.

The article was specifically about the endurance/build quality/reliability testing Lotus were doing at Millbrook though. So I'm not surprised there was little comment on handling and driving experience as Lotus didn't allow Meaden to do much proper fun driving (unless he lied).Agree it was a rather dull thing to read and was not what I was hoping for either.

I went through and did that.Video: http://www.seloc.org/2011/12/video-exige-s-0-100mp...
Calculations: http://www.seloc.org/2011/12/exige-s-mini-site-upd...
The time measured in the video is actually in the region of around 0-107mph, that should be about the peak speed in 3rd gear as you can see in the calculation page, so about in line with the 7.9s claim for 0-100mph.

That's not the time that was being talked about by staff when i was up at the test track in the autumn watching it go round. Nine something IIRC but they were still pretty chuffed with that.jackal said:

Those figures for the car sans Race Pack and Trofeo tyres perhaps? The car in the Hethel preview video is on Trofeo tyres (can see the tread as it stops for the standing start) and is using Launch Control. Wouldn't be surprised if that combination takes a chunk out the 0-100 time.

I can tell you for 100% certain this is not the weight of a roadgoing exige or in fact any other passenger car.Weight (kerb): 1055g
Perhaps the review is of an r/c car?
I can't believe that the new exige could weigh as much as 1170kg. Is the engine/gearbox combo really so much heavier than the 4cyl equivalent? I have read of V6 elise conversions staying comfortably under a tonne. It's starting to offend the original elise/exige concept at that weight imo.
I like the way the car was presented to the world 6+ months ago yet we still don't have any real spec's for it....
I am sure it won't be slow, but it's hardly going to be the fastest thing since sliced bread is it?
be interesting to see how it actually sells, £50K+ is big money, outside the usual 2nd car (toy) bracket for most people.

What else all but matches a GT3 RS to 100, has a roof, switchable TC and has a three year warranty.... Looks great value to me compared to a half worn out and in need of a refresh GT3...I am sure it won't be slow, but it's hardly going to be the fastest thing since sliced bread is it?

I'm inclined to agree with you here, if the build qualities took a step up and the performance figures stack up then I can't see what else will match it that's new for that £.donna180 said:

On the traction control front, does anyone KNOW whether it can be adjusted in % like the old Exige S or whether it'll be a on/off system. I have heard that the latter is more likely.Harlestone said:

Details on here: http://www.seloc.org/articles/guides/exige-s-v6-pr...Three modes: Touring, Sport and Off. If you have the Race Pack you get a fourth mode, Race.
