Figured you guys would be the best people to ask.

Stumbled on an S2 halfcut for cheap and wondering if it's possible to transplant into my S1.

Probably as expensive as one of the Honda install kits, since it will likely be a custom one off job, unless your doing the work yourself

Ultimately the yota looses out to the Honda as while the BHP per litre may be similar the Honda has another 200cc which makes all the differance

It's possible yes, most things are with money and time, as to if it's worth the cost, over getting a Honda put in instead which is a conversion thats been done to quite a few Elises S1 & S2, i would guess the answer is no, unless you can get it done really cheaply which i doubt

Then there's the fact of replacing a 190hp K with a 190 Yota, doubt you'l notice much differance there

As per post on Seloc, don't do it!!!!!

Get a vhpd, Honda or duratec

Been done before to meet VLN rules, but was a bit of a failure, car is now k20 powered.

The 2zz is big, can't fit without chassis cutting etc, and its really not worth the effort. (actually, the one I saw used a Sadev sequential and they are smaller than the Std 2zz box..)
