I have a 2000 S1 Elise with the 12-spoke 7" rear wheels and 205 wide tires.

I'm autocrossing it, and doing some track days and have too much oversteer. I'd like to get 8" rear wheels and 225 wide tires (Yokohoma probably) and put them on for track and autocross days, keeping the regular wheels for the road.

So I'm looking for advice on what make/model/supplier to go for...?
I like the 12-spoke design, but I don't think its available in 8", so I need new front wheels to match as well.

Any ideas? I think the S190 has 8"..

Hungry do you work for Pirelli? (thats twice you've recommeded them) Have you tried other tyres as I believe the Pirelli are standard and lots of people commented on them. The Pzeros are not good in the wet on the Elise (so I've heard, as the car isn't heavy enough) and the recommendations tend towards bridgestones and Yokohamas. The Exige has Yokohamas fitted as standard.

I already have Pirelli P-Zero's,
they are standard on the Elise S1.
But I don't think I can run the
225 wide tires on 7" rims effectively

I found that www.race-speed.com have
some wider rims from the Sport 160
model. Thats the best best so far...
Any other ideas?

A lot of people put 225's onto the standard rims. I'm not aware of any problems reported. The only thing to watch for are the tyres rubbing on the arches.

Have a poke round www.eliseparts.com - more expensive than race-speed for the Victory 5-spokes but has lots of other options including hub adaptors for non-Lotus wheels.

You do know about the Yoko Neova LTS tyres don't you? They're 195 front, 225 rear and fit on standard rims.

If you'd like, you can come to my shop in Torrance, Ca. and do a trial fitting of my Exige wheels. They're 17x8.5 with 225-45 Yoko A-039,s. I'm installing a 220HP Honda RSX engine right now, so that may be of interest as well. Check out www.prototyperacing.com
