Quick question about the heater control on the VX220 (I assume it might be the same on the S2?) - on a car I've put a deposit down on.

Should the heater direction knob rotate all the way around? Seems to control the airflow OK but felt quite easy to turn so I thought I'd check... If it's an electronic control that would be OK but if it's a mechanical flap type system it felt a bit too easy to turn, as if it's not connected.

I don't think the controls are the same in an Elise and VX220, but in the Elise it certainly doesn't turn all the way around - it goes from about 7 o'clock to about 5 o'clock.

thanks - from looking at VX220.org.uk it sounds like the knob s just spinning on the spindle.

Don't worry, won't make the slightest bit of difference if its spinning or not, the heating / demisting is like an asthmatic cough.

Better off getting a heated windscreen and ditching the heating.

I find the standard S2 fan quite powerful even though it's noisy.

Yes S2 is better - VX and S1 share the same front end with the battery taking half the space where the S2 heater matrix is so its junk come the winter. I'd start the car put the heating on, scrape ice off the inside of the screen, the outside, wait a bit and even then sometimes i'd get 100yards down the road and its all frozen up again frown

I'd 100% get a heated screen in one if I got another.

Although Herman's right if it's not garaged overnight - the VX does JUST ABOUT warm up enough and demist ok, but you'll need thick socks and a coat if it stays below freezing during day. Best to put a windscreen cover on it too when parked which reduces condensation/freezing. I've used mine through 4 winters and enjoyed it, if wrapped up a bit!

Most likely cause is that the cable to the heater just has just come undone from the clip on the outer sheath; it's a simple cable type, and like many little things on the VX is quite simple to replace or fix.
