Just moving on from the V6 Exige threads. Do you think that driver training should be compulsory when buying some of these high powered cars. Could there be a seperate class on the driving licence for cars of a certain ilk, as there is with HGVs etc. How good is the driver training with regard to road use. Having never been on one outside work I would be interested to know your thoughts.

Personally I'd like to see every new driver put through a day with someone like Walshy.

I'd like to think buyers of performance cars would take a pride in their driving but given a Porsche dealer once told me that over half of his cutomers don't bother with test drives then there's obviously a high proportion just buying a badge so doubt they have much pride in their driving. Lotus tend to sell to a more knowledgable market.

See it with motor boats acquired buy the newly rich - absolute bloody menace. I've been buzzed by one in Torbay and another in mid Channel.(Don't get me started about French fishing boats!).

Cyclists say it about peds and vans, drivers say it vans and cyclists, yotties say it about nouveau riche powerboat owners and divers say it about yotties smile (and I'm in more than half of those groups... so must be a total twunt)

But back on thread.... mainstream insurance cos should give discounts for them, like the specialists do. Then more would care.

But as the Porsche dealer said... half of customers are just buying something to pose about in... like the latest Jimmy Choos
