Hi all,

I have been with the same insurance broker for years and have moved house recently (from Putney out to surrey) my other car showed no change in premium (as it was due around the time we moved) or rather it was going to go up but the move kept it at the same level.

Car is a 2010 with sports and performance pack and has a full 2Bular exhaust which puts it around 260 BHP.

I have around 9 years no claims on both policys (I am 36) have no points and done less than 6 thousand miles in the exige this year, car is also garaged however the premium is still over £1000 what does everyone else pay?

My quote came to £1,600, 24, British Army Corporal, Kept in secure camp, SDP&C, Windscreen Cover, 5yrs NCB, In Wiltshire.. The excess was £800 mind...

I don't think insurance is getting any better for anyone. The past few renewals have been an increase despite the area i live in being low risk and the obvious addition of an extra years NCB... It's pathetic really.

It sounds way too high for me.

Try Henderson Taylor, CCI, REIS. I would be surprised if one of these didn't give you a way better price. I pay sub £600 for my Exige S

I can rememember when I was 24 thinking - ahh at least when I reach the age of 35 plus insurance will be cheap.....

I can now tell you that there is no advantage in getting slightly older.........

Quite a few mods for my S1 Elise, is under £500 with Henderson Taylor. 30 years old, car not garaged, 10,000 miles and trackdays + euro cover included.

Far, far cheaper than REIS for me.

An S1 is going to be a lot cheaper to insure than a 2010 car.

My Elise S1 used to cost me £600 with trackdays just last year. Its the cost of the car as well as the extra bhp that costs.

Well mine is about 900quid but it is a S/C Honda S1 and it lives in W2 postcode and that comes with a handful of free TD insurance days. Am with CCI... REIS were pretty close too.

Mainstream insurers aren't particularly good with quotes on Lotus cars, particularly if they are modified.

25% less is a good improvement, especially if you do trackdays as CCI will give you 6 free with just an extra £1K XS on track.

Honda'd S1 was only £700

Europa £1000

No, points, non fault claim 4 years ago

Aged 43 year old in a rural location

But business use and 24,000 miles a year

I pay way too much as clearly I'm a driving God.

Mine is a paltry 156bhp 111s, it was about £500 as a main car (35 with full NCD and zero points), now its a limited milage 2nd car at £350, this is through CCI

What p***ed me off was my previous (famous online) insurer wanting to charge me an extra £250 just because I had non-standard grilles (!!!!!)

Wiki,

I actually meant Henderson Taylor was far, far cheaper than REIS for me - not far cheaper than his super Exige (or Elise, can't remember what it was!).

Not commenting on the costs at all really or trying to compare the two cars - just that I found HT £500 cheaper - it's not an insignificant difference, so if OP hasn't already tried them it's worth a look.

Lots of other folk on SELOC also seem to have noticed the same this year.

i pay £310 for an s2 exige modded to about 230bhp

Just outside the m25
Mileage is limited to 3k and im aged 37. 5k miles would have been about another £150 extra
This was with the company REIS

It definitely pays to shop around as my renewal was 550 with Adrian Flux

Elise S1, Magnex exhaust and Hurricane induction, Manchester postcode, garaged overnight, 5,000 miles p.a, class 1 business cover, 3 points for SP30, 7 years NCB, 32 year old engineering consultant.

I pay £480 p.a. with REIS. They are fine with pretty much any mods - when I spoke to them recently and enquired whether the S2 suspension upgrade would affect the premium, the answer was no. They said they would apply a 10% additional premium for something like the Honda or DVA power conversion but told me most mods will not affect the premium.

I pay just over £400 for mine with REIS. That includes track cover, all mods and agreed value of £25k.

I didn't think Henderson Taylor did agreed value. When I was looking, it was only REIS who offered a true Agreed Value policy. Good to know that Henderson Taylor now do.
