I was contemplating buying an Exige or 111R, but my driveway is at quite an acute angle. I can just about get my TVR over the threshold. Is there anyone in the Staffordshire area that would be kindly willing to see if the car would go over?
My TVR currently sits at 145mm from ground to sill, behind the front wheel. 155mm from ground to sill just in front of the back wheel, email me please if you like.Cheers

It is very, very hard to generalise, it will vary a lot depending on the ride height the car is set to, the tyres it is running, whether it has a front splitter, etc..

Judging from what you say I would expect most Eliges to scrape though.

For example my lowered S2 Elise, with brand new 205/45 tyres and a front splitter, has ~90mm clearance at the lowest point, the front splitter. It scrapes on more or less anything.

Is the angle that concerns you concave or convex? The problem with the Elise is the length of the front overhang, so a concave angle is a problem; the wheelbase is short enough that a convex anxle is relatively unlikely to cause it to ground.

Thanks lads, It is a convex apex on the drive. So may not be a big problem??

I'd think not, at standard ride-height. I think it's a significnatly shorter car than your TVR.

You might have problems getting back out on that basis. I physically can't get my Exige into my garage forwards but it goes in backwards with the odd little scrape from the splitter. My 111R was significantly easier. Getting someone sympathetic to come over with a car is probably your best bet...

The clearance under my 111R is approx 130mm.

Whereabouts in staffs do you live? I live in ripley derbyshire so if the right side not a million miles away if struggling. I have standard elise s, would not he able to do it this week but possibly would next week. Do you have any garages near you who sells them, as if its a genuine enquiry I would expect them to let you try.

I had the same dilemma. I've got an S2 Exige S with standard suspension, and my front splitter misses my driveway..just. FYI, the approach angle for a standard car is approx 13 degrees. My drive is 10-11 degrees...go measure yours with an iPhone or something, and see where you get to.

This has gone cold a little, offer still stands if it's still needed.

I kept losing the under defuser on both of my Griffs on my drive way, which is a farm dirt track of around 800yrs but my Elise has never had a problem in the two years I've owned it, there's better clearance on the Elise. I can understand a dealer not wanting to take a risk though but you should be ok. Do it! They are fantastic rewarding cars, best I've owned so far. Only other car I would part it for is a V6 Exige.
