Just done my first trackday with the Elise, and apart from being overtaken by a few Exiges, although only just by one or two, it all went pretty well....when I had fitted a new battery.
I now need to get some wider front wheels/tyres, but thats another day....Actually, proper trackday tyres, and a supercharger!

The engines (Toyota S2 111R) tappets now seem to be a bit noisier at idle and low revs....is this normal or is there a "preferred" oil?

Thanks

This is normal, the oild has got hot and is a bit thinner than it used to be now.....

When did you last have the oil changed? If you track it alot it might be worth adding in an extra oil change in between services

Is it a tappety/chain noise? I think we're talking about the same noise, which is perfectly normal.

What oil do you use?

The OE oil I had in the car made the engine very noice. Back on Track (Guilford) then put Valvoline 0W 40 in it at a service (which is what they put in the Lotus Cup Cars) and the engine was significantly quieter - always a good sign.....
