Just put the remapped ECU in the car and took it for a test drive, and noticed the (what I know know to be) MIL light was on?
Having looked in the manual, it is there to warn of an emissions fault/change. A change might be expected, so should the light be on, or am I now going to be told that I have to buy a new special catalytic converter or something, or is this normal with the remap?

Seems to be slightly torquier low down, go through a slightly rough patch about 5500rpm and then come alive. Definately much better when pressing on and keeping the engine in the power zone...can`t wait for its first track day!....unless of course I have to get the exhaust changed already?

which/whose remap did you go for?

Could it be that the MIL light needs a couple of clean start ups to clear faults, have heard of faults being cleared/not present any more, but the MIL light still shows, but it goes out after 5 or so clean starts. Anybody else add meat to this vague story from experience?

The ECU was reprogrammed by Lotus aftersales.

I decided to top up the header tank because it looked low, it has two chambers, one which was full of coolant, and the other which only had a small amount in. The car is a 2006 model...is it normal for these cars to use/leak coolant? It certainly has not overheated at any time in the couple of weeks that I have owned it.

The MIL light did not re-appear when I restarted the car, so I guess it had 2 or 3 starts after it was reprogrammed, so I do not know if the light went out for the reason you suggested (a mate of mine suggested something similar) or the header tanks level was low??

I do have clean water dripping from the inside lower edge of the chassis at the front offside wheel arch....I guess this is condensation from the airconditioning?

Thanks for you thoughts.

the dripping water will stop soon. Your air con will stop working LOL. They do not appear to last very long. Had mine topped up 6 months ago, and it has stopped working again. It was pressure tested when filled, so may be it is the compressor or other component, but they do not appear very reliable. Lots of issues discussed on here.

If the MIL light has gone off, I wouldn't worry about it. If it comes back on or starts flashing - then look into it more. OBDII readers are cheap as anything on EBay now, so I'd invest in one of those.

Water where you describe will be from the A/C.

The Lotus dealers seemed to be quite keen for me to keep the aircon on all the time..hmmmm.
