META security system in early elise s2

A bit of a shot in the dark, but after considering adding another keyfob to the s2 I read this paragraph in the service notes:

"...Note that the controller can accommodate a total of 7 key codings, including those supplied new with the vehicle, before the controller must be returned to the factory for memory clearing to allow any further key coding operations."

If I understand correctly, If I try to code a key into slot 4 (for example) and a previous keyfob has already been coded into it, and then subsequently lost (prior to my ownership), then the new key fob will not work?

By the way, I believe the alarm is a meta m36 t2.
