My friend has a Mk1 Elise 111s (? the one with the light fairings and the 160bhp VVC k series engine)

It goes well, and the engine is peachy. No oil use, no starting or running issues. BUT... its losing water.... when parked! He can drive it all day for hundreds of miles and the water level stays bang on where it should be, but then he puts it in the garage for a couple of days and when you get back to it the header tank has emptied. The longer you leave it the more comes out.... But there is no puddle under the engine, and no puddle under the radiator!
He does get some mist from the screen vents though when starting the car from cold after a long lay up.. (when it usually takes at least a couple of litres of coolant to restore header tank level before starting) ... so is it possible there is a leak up there under the dash board? If so, how hard is it to get the dash out?

Thanks in advance

Andy

sounds like the heater matrix is leaking if it steams up the window...

they have been know to do this...

they are cheap enough here, although it's a right PITA job to fit!

FYI, the heater box is in the front alongside the battery.
