Hi,have any 111R/Exige owners changed their second cam switch to 5700. Hanger111 are charging £198 at present which seems good value.
I do about half a dozen track days per year and weekend road driving.

Just wondering if you loose the 'bang' in the back of the standard ECU. I have a stage 2 lotus factory exhaust and pipercross on my 04 111R & it has covered 24000 miles.

Any personal experiences and advice appreciated.

I (along with quite a few others) had the H111 reflash done as part of a group buy. Definately worth doing, the transition to second cam seems a little smoother and it's more of a surge of power and noise rather than a "kick". Also the car seems a little more eager to rev although that could just be the imagination. On certain tracks it will help keep you on second cam more of the time but it's more notable on the road where you can keep on cam accelerating up through the gears without bouncing off the limiter.

I had my S2 Exige done at H111 too. Makes a good difference on the road, I haven't used my car on track. I had the slightly different upgrade with the alternative map for exhaust/induction mods. You do lose that brutal change/kick but the extra 500rpm lower down definately makes it better and seems to drop the engine back onto the second cam easier as you change up through the gears.

Go for it

Thanks everyone for their comments, also spoke to Greg at Hangar and seems a no brainer.

I read somewhere that earlier ECU's can't be altered but never looked into it further as I am selling my 54 111r.
Heard anything about that ?
I would have got it done especially at that price even though you loose a bit of the 2nd cam kick.

Hi Ian,
just different maps for the pre 06 cable throttle compared to the later fly by wire, see

Very early cars can't be done. Open the engine cover and look at the ECU (on the bulkhead to the left, If the reference/part number starts with an "A" it can't be changed. My car was built around October 2004 and has a "B" unit so maybe from early 2004 to when the "54" plate cars came out.

A type ECU's can be reflashed - H111 did mine about 3 years ago. I went for the GT200 spec one as I had full Larini manifold + system +ITG and Greg reckoned i would notice the difference. I have to say that I have been very pleased with the difference it made to the driving experience. Mine is a Sept 54 reg car car.

Hi Steve,
thanks for your info. I was toying with the idea of going for the GT remap but Greg has advised me that my current Pipercross and stage 2 factory exhaust will not produce the results of a proper sports system like the Larini and ITG induction system.
Did your Reflash help all through the rev range or just when on the 2nd cam plus any other benefits that would justify me changing to the ITG etc.
Also do have use super when the reflash is completed.
Thanks for your help.

The improvements are right through the rev range. On 1st cam, the car has alot more torque. As soon as I plugged in the ecu I remember that the engine sounded smoother - even on tickover and low revs.
I have always used Super UL since I had the car

+1. Useful on track as you don;t have to work so hard to keep it in the rev range. You do lose the 'kick' a bit though.

Greg and Marianne at Hangar 111 always do a great job, I can't sing their praises enough. Highly recommended.

Are we talking £198 + Vat + Fitting or all in. Any impact on fuel consumption? Begs the question why doesnt it get fitted by Lotus/Toyota as original equipment as from a 100% non technically minded it seems a 'sensible modification' to make

+1 for H111, great service. I seem to remember Lotus or at least CN's offering the flash as a 'sport upgrade', but I may be wrong.

H111 did the Sports Racer and it is so much better both on the road and track.
