Presumably you can no longer buy these new? I am thinking of selling mine as I just don't get to use it and it seems a waste. It's not even a year old yet nor is it run in but I'm not sure what it's value would be - Exige S with Touring and Performance Packs, Personalised Reg (to the car) and a Softop Conversion? Don't want to lose a wad of cash but if I ain't using it it may be better in my pocket. Having said that apart from the V6 coming out would this be a desirable car in a few years time and better to hold on to it as it must be one of the last?

Mine was 11 months old with 2500 miles, sport & performance pack, premium paint and upgraded interior trim, Lotus Ohlin suspension from factory.
I paid £34k for it just 6 weeks ago from a main dealer, if that helps.

There doesn't seem to be many around and a few dealers are desperate for stock - worth a few phone calls?

Ouch, yours is the one in the other thread in pieces? I am guessing from the pictures that is one less Exige?

Just on this point, how do you get to buy an Exige and then be in a position where you're selling it and it's not even run in?

I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of someone who could end up doing this and can only imagine the following scenarios;
a) mega-rich and thought "Exiges look sporty", order one and then find out it's too hardcore
b) lottery winner and thought "Exiges look sporty", order one and then find out it's too hardcore
c) driving past dealership, stopped to ask directions and got sucked into some finance deal by a smooth-talking salesman
d) Lotus enthusiast, saved up all your life, had a couple of drives in it, contracted lower spine issues which make it too difficult to drive
e) ???

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a dig or anything. I genuinely am interested because I just can't imagine being in a position to spunk a serious amount of dosh on a car without knowing everything about it and that it would get used. I do realise there are many varying degrees of "serious" when it comes to money though....

Always wanted one but now have it find I just don't get the opportunities to use it mainly because my commute is nothing and my children take up all my time, neither of which were on your list. I also have daughters who aren't the least bit interested in a 'nice drive'. I would love to keep it but think I could probably do more with the money then it being snuggly parked up in my garage.

In my view Exige prices will stay firm now that these are no longer produced. The new Exige V6 SC car, once available will have an impact on prices and probably in a positive way. Lotus dealers will usually bid on your sort of car if asked but will still need to make a profit too.

Money in the bank is always good and cars like these can still take a while to sell privately if you don't mind trying to do so. Time wasters and the like can be very tiresome though.

My daughters (19+21)love going in out my Exige

In that case I apologise, it definitely wasn't a dig I can assure you.

I also have wife + 2 daughters, none of which 'understand' the appeal of my car choices. Doesn't stop me buying them though, one day I'll grow up and buy a normal car.

Thanks for your answer.

Im on my 6th Lotus and the first one i bought i did exactly the same as you, in fact i bought another not too long after i sold the 1st and did exactly the same again. I hardly drove them and couldnt really justify keeping them. Also if im being honest i was very nervous of them and a little bit frightened to drive them especially if it was wet.

What im trying to say is, you will regret getting rid - at least i did (did it twice before i realised but im daft). The one i have now is approaching 12 months of ownership which is a record for me.

Give it a bit more time and see how you feel this time next year, you are quite fortunate in having a car that is very desirable, especially with dealers who cannot get enough of them so it wont depreciate much if at all.

Have you tried getting involved in some local clubs, going to meets, track days etc?

Im in a similar position as you in terms of kids and a missus who are not really interested, a good picnic persuades my daughter to come to meets so its progress i suppose.

The other option is to make a concious effort to use it. Go to some local or nation meets (PH, SELOC, MLOC, NYLOC). Get it out on track.

It's much more than a car, it's a way of life (ok, perhaps not quite a way of life biggrin)

My 4 year old (at the time) loved my Elise - she still talks about it now, 2 years after I let it go for something more practical.
