I dont normally tackle things like this myself I might break a fingernail.... but am tempted to try. I have a pair of pliers, a screwdriver and a nailfile... Are there any particular pitfalls??

Have a look in the techwiki on SELOC, theres a how-to guide. I kept putting mine off but when I eventually got round to it it wasn't as big a job as I thought. Before starting I'd make sure you have a new set of stainless fixings to put it back on with and you mark the position of everything and note where shims have been used to even the clam placement up etc.

You also need two people to comfortably lift the clam on and off.

I managed to rub off the loose paint with a file, hoovered the crap out by taping a straw to the end of the Dyson and painted it with hammerite and a very thin brush.

Worth getting a 10mm(?) wratched spanner to undo the bolts by the top door hinges. Very tight space wise.
