just after a quick bit of help

Hi, just after a quick bit of help. Other half just had a crash in her s1 - insurance asking for all keys and v5 for her car and seem to want to write her car off without inspection - smash into railings and lamp post after loosing control on some diesel at about 35mph - front and rear clam knackered and two nearside wheels but no apparent chassis damage - gutted as hers since almost new and in pristine condition - have heard of anniesdad on here. Any pointers please!!
If Wheels have taken a hit then don't assume there will be no other damage. Suspension components are sure to have taken some pressure (possible breaks/bends) and chassis and rear subframe could easily have some small kinks.
Suspension and subframe damage aren't the end of the world, but I'm just saying it needs a proper inspection.
The thing is, two new clams painted and fitted is going to be several thousand quid right there.
If an engineer's inspection indicates that the car can be fixed properly (all new parts so as good as new) and the rest of the car is in good condition, then depending on the engineer's estimate and the amount the insurance will fork out (and haggle on this), then you can always buy it back as a CAT D and have it repaired yourself. Depends how attached to it you are I suppose.

Cheers David,
I've now seen a few photos, in my non-expert capacity the front clam looks repairable, the rear not so good. Looking at the very bendy state of the rear nearside wheel though rear subframe/chassis damage is a bit of a concern. Have heard that likelihood of insurers selling it back to me as salvage if written off are slim hence may have to buy it back at auction - arse!

rear wheel impacts are less of a problem, worse case, subframe get's bent, and they are a easy swap (relatively), it's the fronts that are the issue, as one good hit will tear the wishbone mounts out of the chassis, at which point it's game over.I've now seen a few photos, in my non-expert capacity the front clam looks repairable, the rear not so good.
