The passenger side window on my S1 Elise has decided that it doesn't want to wind down the last inch or so ( it becomes very tight to wind and I'm worried the class will come off the rail).
Is this likely to be something out of adjustment or do I just need to get some silicon lubricant down the window guides at either end of the door?

I'd noticed that it had started to feel a little tighter to wind of late. Looking at pictures and diagrams of the window mechanism I'm not sure that it can be sticking anywhere but the guides, but there seem to be a shed load of adjustment points and I thought that perhaps it could be possible for a bolt to wind out and foul something.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Take the trim off and have a look. There's some instructions here - http://elise-faq.info/index.php?title=Windows (see the rebonding section)

Try the lube first, I lube my window seals at least once a year, stops your passengers forcing the window!

Otherwise the brackets which are glued to the glass will break.

Hope this helps

The felt (or whatever they are) guide channels that hold the glass at the front and back of the door can move up and down - as far as I know they're glued in, but it obviously wears over time.

As such, they can move downwards and bunch up at the bottom, making it difficult to wind the window all the way down.

It's only a couple of quid for a few metres of the stuff direct from Lotus or one of the dealers - I got in touch about it a couple of months back.

Try some silicone spray or lubricant first though, you never know.

It could also be the glass coming away from one of the stud carriers - front or rear - so when you wind the window down it's going at a slight angle, rather than flat. Try pushing the window down from the top at the same time as winding - see if it gets any easier.

Thanks for the replys guys.
I've got some silicon lubricant and will give that a try first off.
If still no joy then I'll get the door card off and go exploring.
